About the Group
What We Will Do
What is Required?
Joining the AIGA
Student Group: Antonelli Institute is now forming our own student group that will be associated with the Philadelphia Chapter of the AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts).
This group will be comprised of Graphic Design students from Antonelli and will be supervised by a faculty advisor (Ed Zawora).
What we will do: As far as regularly attending AIGA Philadelphia social and educational events, we will be organizing design/illustration related trips, tours, and lectures for our school. For instance AIGA group members may take tours of a studio, visit a museum, listen/learn to an outside professional, hold social events exclusively for AIGA members and much more.
What is required?:
- You will need to become an AIGA member at a cost of $75. You can join online by clicking here or download/complete/mail a pdf application.
- You will be required to attend meetings regularly. We will check our rosters regularly and purge students who do not attend group meetings (your AIGA membership will still be valid, you just will not be considered part of the group). We need everyone's input to make this group a success.
Membership (excerpt from AIGA site): Full-time graphic design students are eligible for an AIGA student membership rate of $75 for up to four years. You must provide documentation of your full-time status when you join and when you renew your student membership by sending either a copy of your current student ID or your bursar's receipt (John Callen).
AIGA student members gain access to an incredible networking tool: the AIGA online membership directory (listing all 19,000 members across the country).
AIGA members are also offered discounts on other design publications, overnight courier services, long-distance telephone services and health insurance. All in all, the AIGA student membership is a bargain, not to mention a terrific inroad into the profession.
AIGA members can attend AIGA events (social and educational) in the Philadelphia area. There are great events planned regularly in our area. Non-members usually have to pay a fee to attend such events or may not be invited at all.
We will be expanding this site as the club membership and involvement continues to expand.
